The WorkLink Employment Society is recruiting a part time, Opportunities Administrator for the START Program. This position works up to 21 hours per week (Monday to Friday) in our Jacklin Road office located in the Westshore. This is a term position from November 4, 2019 to March 31, 2020, subject to continued funding at a rate of $23.00 to $25.04 per hour plus vacation pay.

About The Position:
The Skills Link initiative program is funded under the Federal Government of Canada to assist eligible youth 15 to 30 years of age in developing a broad range of skills and knowledge in searching for and obtaining work. This program consists of a 6-week classroom component with the opportunity of an 8-week work experience placement (with or without a wage subsidy incentive). The work of the Opportunities Administrator is to initiate and maintain ongoing contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement agencies to promote the successful job placement of program participants.
The Opportunities Administrator’s main responsibilities include:
Researching, establishing and maintaining relationships with potential employers.
Promoting the benefits and services of the START program.
Negotiating work/practicum placements with employers, including outlining dates, location of training, job duties, expectations, evaluation processes, risk management, and monitoring arrangements;
Providing job development services to clients during peak periods.
Assist client’s to learn and accurately carry out key job responsibilities, develop self – confidence and maximize independence, establish supports, and navigate a new work placement.
Referring participants to supportive community resources where appropriate; and
Submitting monthly and final client program reports to WorkLink Project Supervisor and funders as required.
The successful applicant will work closely and evenly share the workload with the other START Program, Project Facilitators to serve the needs of clients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Able to conduct assessments, interviews and guide participants.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Strong knowledge of local labour market.
Communications and public relations skills.
Highly organized with strong administrative skills.
Knowledge of information management and online reporting systems.
Professional and responsible with sensitive and confidential situations.
Superior verbal/written skills, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
Post-Secondary University Degree or College Diploma with demonstrated experience in Career/Employment counselling or equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in delivering customized employment, job coaching and job development services.
Related Certification an asset.
Current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
Previous experience maintaining successful relationships with community groups, employers, government/referral agencies.
Job development experience with youth is an asset.
