This position provides case management support for residents in the Therapeutic Community. Using the tools of the Therapeutic Community Model the TC Worker supports the residents in programming, work as therapy and day to day activities while promoting community as method.
This position, under the supervision of the Program Director participates in supporting the daily activities and needs of residents in the TRC program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in encounter groups.
Attend to individual residents specific needs.
Provide support for residents in practicing the principles and values of the TRC.
Attend Morning, Evening, and Celebration and House meetings per schedule.
Participate in staff meetings and case conferences.
Role model behavioral expectations of dress, daily work habits, interpersonal communication, positive attitudes, temperament, emotional self-management and adherence to facility rules.
Observe the social and psychological environment of the TC, increasing resident awareness by providing feedback on behavior and attitudes
Support that the philosophy of the TC understanding that every activity is therapeutic, that the goal of every activity is designed to advance the personal growth of individuals.
Promote use of the community by utilizing behavioral reinforcers and extinguishers.
Participate in special events and celebrations.
Support aftercare/continuing care plans.
Complete wellness counts.
Willingness to assist residents in completing tasks.
No smoking on grounds.
Builds rapport with residents.
Schedule will include days, evenings, nights and/or weekends.
Education and Experience:
Diploma or degree in addictions, mental health, Health or combination of training and experience.
Experience working with those who struggle with addictions.
Preferred experience with the Therapeutic Community Model.
Experience supporting those who are living in recovery.
Skills and Abilities:
The TRC Support Worker must be able to:
Establish and maintain a therapeutic rapport with resident.
Observe and recognize changes in residents.
Assess situations based on individual resident’s needs, family needs, program needs, and Society Policy.
Make adjustments in services based on individual levels of competence and emotional state.
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Carry out the duties of the position.
Work independently and in cooperation with others.
Organize and prioritize.
Be familiar with community resources.
