TERM: Permanent, Part-time – 3 days a week @ 7 hrs/day


The Pacheedaht First Nation has 4 reserves on 174 hectares, 80 km
from Victoria. PFN has 280 members, approximately 90 living on reserve. The Nation shares the region with the small town of Port Renfrew and the area is a popular destination for outdoor activities, such as hiking trails, exploring beaches, surfing, kayaking and fishing.

 Apply and enforce the housing policy;
 Recommend changes in policy as needed and review housing goals and priorities annually;
 Review all applications for rental housing to ensure completeness and eligibility;
 On behalf of Council enter into a rental tenancy agreement with approved tenant(s);
 Explore and provide annual workshops for Ready to Rent and minor home maintenance for tenants;
 Carry out or oversee maintenance and repairs in a cost-effective manner;
 Explore and carry out proposals and applications for additional funding for maintenance and repairs;
 Liaise with Band members to ensure the housing needs of members are documented;
 Prepare annual budget requests for the approval of Council;
 Prepare report on housing activities for as required by the Band Manager, Council, AANDC;
 Plan and carry out community meetings on housing programs or services;
 Respond to queries and requests for services from Band members, applicants and tenants;
 Complete a unit condition assessments and/or home visits as required; and
 Provide information for tenants who require assistance in understanding and assuming their housing responsibilities.

 Experience with property management, including maintenance management
 An understanding of the Residential Tenancy Act, other relevant legislation, policies and procedures,
 A basic understanding of social and band housing programs
 Cross cultural sensitivity and awareness and either have, or quickly develop, an awareness of the
community and local families as well as a local, regional and territorial awareness
 Team leadership and management skills
 Financial management skills
 Contract management skills
 Strategic planning skills
 Analytical and problem-solving skills
 Effective written communications skills including the ability to prepare reports,
 Research and program development skills
 Demonstrated proposal and grant writing skills
 Possess good negotiations and conflict resolution skills

Preference will be given to candidates of aboriginal ancestry who possess the necessary qualifications
and skills.
