The Opportunity:

Working closely with the Production and Packaging teams, the Receiver’s primary role will be to work with a variety of our vendors to receive shipments, verify they meet Portofino Bakery standards and organize the received goods to ensure fresh rotation and safe storage.

On top of the primary duty of receiving, the successful applicant will be introduced to a variety of other aspects of the warehouse such as inventory counting, operating our in-house flour mill and setting up the production team with adequate ingredients for the day and warehouse organization.

Responsibilities:

The role of the Receiver will be to:

Assist in the unloading of deliveries to our warehouse following Portofino Bakery Policy for receiving
Count and communicate any shipping errors or discrepancies to the appropriate people
Maintain excellent warehouse organization by storing ingredients, products and other items in designated spots. This will require the use of a forklift and pallet jack
Work with packaging and production staff when they require supplies from pallet racking
Run the mill for our in-house flour
Work co-operatively with all staff, management, vendors and customers
Participate in general warehouse, bakery and maintenance tasks
Pick up and/or deliver items off site

Compensation:

$17.00/hr entry wage. Possibly higher depending on experience
$250 bonus after 90 days of employment
Medical and Dental Benefits after 6 months (for staff who work over 30 hours/wk)
Opportunity to make an additional $1/hr based on performance after 6 months

Qualifications:

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

Previous Warehouse experience
Valid Driver’s License
Forklift and power pallet jack experience.
Physically able to be on feet for 8 hours a day and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Food Safe Level 1 (we provide)
Hepatitis A Vaccination (we provide)
Ability to work unsupervised and under pressure
Ability to communicate effectively in English
Available to work Monday-Friday from 7:00am-3:30pm with one weekend day work or later shifts
