Administrative Assistant/Social Worker Opportunity

Woodwynn Farms is a 193-acre organic farm for our therapeutic recovery community for the homeless, offering an opportunity to change people’s lives with educational and work programs based on responsibility, dignity, independence and the principles of peer-to-peer help.
We are currently accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant/Social Worker. You will be part of the team that provides support to program participants and the Executive Director and other staff.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the key responsibilities of this position include:
Interview prospective participants and assess suitability for Woodwynn’s Homefulness Program.
Make referrals to community resources and organizations when necessary.
Prepares appropriate forms and maintains accurate and up to date files.
In accordance with the Therapeutic Community model methodology, counsels participants individually or in other small groups; aids client to mobilize inner capacities and environmental resources to improve social functioning and promote independence and self‐determination.
Support program participants through the life cycle of treatment at Woodwynn, from intake, through treatment and exit planning.
Schedule appointments and accompany program participants to them.
Administrative/ Market Duties/Volunteer coordination:
Answer phones and e-mails.
Assist Farm Market employees as needed.
Maintain petty cash, end of day sales and track expenses.
Recruit, train and schedule volunteers and work parties.
Performs other related duties as required.
The hours of the position are Tuesday-Saturday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Hours and wages will be discussed.

Ability to establish priorities and organize workload appropriately.
Must be able to manage conflicting priorities and several demands simultaneously.
Ability to relate effectively and establish positive interpersonal relationships with staff, volunteers, participants and the general public.
Knowledge and practical application of the Therapeutic Community Model is an asset.
Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW), Bachelor in Psychology, Sociology; Or diploma/certificate in mental health and addictions with 2+ years of experience working with individuals experiencing addictions and mental health.
Professional registration is preferred.
Full Driver’s License and clear driver’s abstract necessary.
