SALARY:$19.21 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
HOURS OF WORK:Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, however at times able to work weekends and evenings to meet operational needs.
STATUS: Auxiliary Temporary role (Est as soon as possible to July 15th, 2019)
SUMMARY: West Shore Parks and Recreation Society is seeking an energetic, out going and talented Café Cook and Attendant to prepare and serve food while providing amazing customer service at our very own Café Fresh. This individual will need to be quick on their feet, have a positive attitude with the ability to adapt and multi task. Café Fresh, which is located in the main lobby of Juan de Fuca site operates between 9:00 am and 3:45 pm all week long and requires a dedicated person to call it their home, Monday through Friday. Keeping the Café spiffy clean, and our community with full bellies this individual will have the opportunity to learn about WSPRS Food and Beverage department and potentially stay on with us in another capacity at the end of the term. In addition to being a part of a wonderful team this person will also be eligible to an additional 14% pay per hour in lieu of benefits and a free membership pass to WSPRS while they are employed in this temporary role.
JOB DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Prepares and serves food at the Café Fresh, located in the main lobby of the JDF building.
Provides excellent customer service while maintaining a tidy work area, which includes clearing and cleaning tables and surrounding café area.
Daily food preparation exercising food safe procedures and policies.
Responsible for assisting in creating cost effective menu items, creating daily specials and promotions.
Responsible for training café staff in food preparation of the menu items.
Responsible for monitoring inventory levels and assisting in creating orders.
Assists in Banquet events to meet the need of the organization.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum 1 year culinary experience in the Hospitality Industry.
Minimum 1 year experience with front line customer service in the food services industry.
A Culinary Diploma and/or certificate considered an asset.
Successful completion of Food Safe.
Experience in creating menu items and training staff in the preparation.
Experience with monitoring inventory and assisting with ordering.
Experience in cash handling and working with a POS system.
Ability to provide excellent service to both internal and external customers.
Ability to adapt, multi task, and work in a face paced environment while maintaining excellent customer service.
